Spring brings beautiful blooming flowers and trees, but if you’re one of the estimated 60 million Americans who struggle with seasonal allergies, springtime can be a trying time.

Allergy symptoms like sneezing, sinus pressure, itchy eyes, and infection can have a significant impact on quality of life, preventing you from enjoying the outdoors and participating in outdoor activities.

Environmental factors can trigger allergic reactions in people who have sensitivities to certain allergens or substances like pollen. In particular, pollen is a common allergen. It can trigger allergic rhinitis or seasonal hay fever symptoms as well as the release of histamine. The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology estimates that over 8% of adults in the U.S. struggle with allergic rhinitis symptoms.

Did you know that in addition to sneezing and runny nose, seasonal allergies can also cause fatigue, headaches, puffiness and discoloration under the eyes, sore throat, dry itchy skin, clogged and irritated ears, and itchy watery eyes? Man people reach for over-the-counter treatments, which may offer some relief but can have negative side effects, both short and longterm.

If you’re one of the millions of Americans struggling with seasonal allergy symptoms, there are options to address things naturally. A better quality of life is in reach with methods like acupuncture and NAET.

Acupuncture for Seasonal Allergies

In 2015, a study of 13 studies involving 2,365 found that acupuncture may be helpful in addressing symptoms of allergic rhinitis.

Another study in Berlin examined 422 participants that were split into three groups. One group was given antihistamines, another group was given acupuncture, and the remaining group was given “sham” acupuncture where needles were randomly distributed on the body. Guess which group experienced the most improvement in their symptoms? The acupuncture group!

A similar study was conducted in Korea and China, with the same results — the group who received acupuncture reported a significant improvement in not only their allergy symptoms but their overall quality of life.

Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques (NAET)

Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques, or NAET, is a form of alternative medicine that treats allergies. It is based on the principles of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which hold that energy flows through the body along channels called meridians. According to this theory, when there is an imbalance in the flow of energy, it can lead to illness.

NAET works to desensitize the body to allergens so that they no longer trigger an allergic reaction. The treatment involves exposure to the allergen through skin contact, inhalation, or ingestion. The exposure is then followed by treatments such as acupuncture and/or acupressure.

NAET has been found to be effective in treating allergies to pollen, pet dander, dust mites, and food.

It is important to note that NAET should only be used by highly trained practitioners. If you are interested in trying NAET, book an appointment now!
