WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Therapy that has been around for thousands of years. Acupuncture involves the insertion of tiny, hair-thin needles into specific sites on the body to promote balance and support healing. This ancient healing modality works by encouraging the flow of energy, stimulating the endocrine and nervous systems, and regulating the nervous system. Acupuncture has been found to reduce pain, boost immunity, reduce stress,  balance emotions, and help support the body’s natural healing capabilities.

WHAT DOES ACUPUNCTURE FEEL LIKE? IS IT PAINFUL?

The needles used in acupuncture are MUCH thinner than typical needles – while injection needles are thicker and hollow, acupuncture needles are tiny and hair-thin. Although everyone experiences acupuncture differently, most people describe feeling little to no pain during insertion of the needles.

IS ACUPUNCTURE SAFE?

Acupuncture has a fantastic safety record, limited to very few complications, with minor adverse events such as local bruising being reported in approximately 0.1% of the millions of people treated each year, or roughly 1 in 1000 acupuncture treatments. Sterile, disposable needles are used for acupuncture treatments, and acupuncturists undergo comprehensive training to ensure your safety.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY FIRST VISIT?

During your first Vero Beach acupuncture treatment, Kim will conduct a thorough diagnosis. Your 90 minute sessions will be devoted to compiling a full health history, hearing your health and wellness concerns, taking a detailed pulse diagnosis, spending time apprising you of Kim’s assessment, and answering any questions you might have. Follow up sessions will take one hour.

HOW MANY ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of acupuncture treatments needed can vary depending on the person as well as the issues being treated. Many people experience immediate relief either in part or in whole, others may require multiple treatments. Generally speaking, chronic conditions typically require a longer course of treatment than acute conditions. Your Vero Beach acupuncturist will be better able to assess the amount of treatments you need after your initial consultation.
